July 2007: Reform treaty good news for Europeans
Greater influence over proposed EU laws, an ability to see legislative discussions
first hand, increased security and prosperity – these are just some of the
advantages offered to Europe’s citizens by the new reform treaty. Following
a mandate set at the EU summit of 21-22 June, European leaders met at an intergovernmental
conference chaired by the Portuguese Presidency to build a sound institutional
and political basis for Europe, in keeping with the concerns and expectations

March 2007: Young people speak out for Europe
Sharing their vision for a better Europe, over 200 young delegates came together
in Rome on 24-25 March for the first ever EU Youth Summit, organised by the
Commission in cooperation with the EU Parliament and Youth Forum Jeunesse.
Far from pie-in-the-sky aspirations, delegates came up with concrete proposals
to effectively address the complex challenges faced by Europe today. Their
efforts culminated in the adoption of the Rome

November 2006: Communication initiative now targets ‘silent majority’
Young people and women are being encouraged to express their views on the future
of Europe as part of the EU’s Plan D for more democracy, dialogue and debate.
Reviewing the progress of the initiative one year on, Margot Wallström said: "Plan
D has helped to reinvigorate the debate […] Now the objective is to focus on
